New Developments in Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry – Review

Multiflex GC/Q-TOF

This meeting was organised by the Institute of Mass Spectrometry and hosted by the College of Medicine, Swansea University. In all, excluding the speakers, there were about 35 attendees.

In view of our considerable interest and involvement in TOF MS, this was an important meeting for Anatune and we contributed a presentation, entitled:  ‘Automated sample preparation combined with the power of accurate mass GC/Q-TOF for target and non-target analysis‘, given by Kathy Ridgway, Applications Chemist for Anatune.

Kathy’s presentation covered our experience with the GC/Q-TOF from the sample preparation and injection perspective, and explained why flexibility in this area is so important to successful method development. If you would like a copy of her presentation, here is a link to it.

For those with an interest in the GC/Q-TOF, Jonas Abdel-Khalik of Swansea University gave a presentation entitled ‘Development of a GC-MS reference method for analysis of vitamin D metabolites in human serum’, and discussed in detail his experiences in using the Agilent 7200 GC/Q-TOF that was bought earlier this year. The Swansea mass spec team are very experienced and have given the GC/Q-TOF a thorough evaluation. They like it a lot.
